São Martinho do Campo is a former small town ( vila ) in northern Portugal .

São Martinho do Campo belongs to the Santo Tirso county in the Porto district . The small town had an area of 3.1 km² and 3439 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of São Martinho do Campo, Negrelos (São Mamede) and São Salvador do Campo were merged to form the new municipality of Vila Nova do Campo .

The community was named after Martin von Tours . In 1997 São Martinho do Campo got the status of a vila .

Sports

The local football club Associação Recreativa de São Martinho rose to the 2015/16 season in the Portuguese third division and qualified for the Portuguese Cup .
