Roriz is a small town and a municipality in Portugal .
history
A monastery was built here in the first half of the 11th century, possibly on the basis of an earlier monastery that already existed here. The current place goes back to this monastery.
Until the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , Roriz was a separate administrative district. After the Miguelistenkrieg , the district was dissolved in 1836 and has been a municipality in the Santo Tirso district ever since.
On April 6, 2011, Roriz was given the status of a small town ( Vila ) by a unanimous decision of the Parliament, the Assembleia da República .

administration
Roriz is a municipality ( freguesia ) of the district ( concelho ) of Santo Tirso in the district of Porto . 3665 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011) live in the municipality on an area of 6.2 km².
economy
Historically, the municipality is strongly characterized by agriculture. Since the 1960s the textile industry became the most important branch of the community and its surroundings. As a result, agriculture has lost much of its importance and is now only operated as a sideline. In contrast, viticulture has grown significantly since the middle of the 20th century and is now the most important regional economic factor alongside the textile industry.
