Career

He won the Danish amateur championship in stroke counting in 1997 and became a professional golfer in the same year . His first tournament victory was on the Challenge Tour , where he won the Navision Open Golf Championship in his home country in 1998 . Hansen qualified for the European Tour 1999 that season and has been a permanent member ever since. He won the Murphy's Irish Open in 2002 after a thrilling jump-off against three other competitors on the fourth extra hole. In early 2004 he narrowly missed the second tour title in South Africa . But he always collects good placements and often plays for the tournament victory. In the European Tour Order of Merit in 2005, after four top 10 results, he took a good 36th place. In June 2006 Hansen was able to achieve a top result with a second place at the well-attended Austrian Open . In the 2007 season, after his second tournament victory, he finished eighth in the European Tour Order of Merit and thus his best result so far.

Søren Hansen has competed for his country several times in the World Cup . At the Ryder Cup 2008 he was represented for the first time in the European team.

Like many of his professional colleagues, he lives in the tax haven of Monaco . His compatriot Anders Hansen , who works in the same industry, is neither related to him nor by marriage, but the two are friends.
