The South Russian State Technical University (Polytechnic Institute of Novocherkassk) (SRSTU (PIN)), ( Russian Южно-Российский государственный технический университет (Новочеркасский политехнический институт) ЮРГТУ (НПИ) , English South Russia State Technical University (Novocherkassk Polytechnical Institute) ) is a Russian University in Novocherkassk .

history

On October 18, 1907, the Don Polytechnic Institute (DPI) was founded in Novocherkassk by decision of Tsar Nicholas II . The main reason for this was the extraordinary anthracite deposits near Novocherkassk. Teaching began with three faculties, the Faculty of Mining and Geology , the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Civil Engineering . The professors at the time came from the universities in Warsaw , Saint Petersburg and Moscow .

The university is located in the vicinity of the Resurrection Cathedral in the center of Novocherkassk.

University

Within ten years the number of students has increased from approx. 16,000 to 23,228 (2007). The students are taught by 1,882 people, including 248 professors and 951 lecturers.

10 university institutes are located in Novocherkassk, four institutes are in Shakhty , Volgodonsk , Kamensk-Shakhtinsky and Georgievsk , five departments in Rostov-on-Don , Makhachkala , Maikop , Novoshakhtinsk and Krasny Sulin and three schools in Novocherkassk, Shakhty and Volgodonsk.

There are cooperation agreements with universities in Germany with the Technical University of Munich , the Technical University of Dresden , the Technical University of Ilmenau , the University of Paderborn and the Stuttgart University of Technology .
