Atonement Cross Berndorf (Eifel)
The atonement cross (also known as the indulgence cross ) in Berndorf , a local community in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate , was erected at the end of the 16th century. The wayside cross south of the village on the way to Wiesbaum is a protected cultural monument .
The approximately 2.90 meter high atonement cross made of sandstone with a niche was erected for Count Schleiden's rentmaster Selert, who was murdered here in the forest .
