The Sır Dam is located on the Ceyhan in south-east Turkey about 30 km west of the provincial capital Kahramanmaraş in the province of the same name .
The Sır Dam was built to generate energy between 1987 and 1991. The barrier structure is a 116 m high concrete arch dam (above the valley floor) . The wall volume is 494,000 m³. The reservoir covers an area of 47.5 km² and has a storage space of 1120 million m³. In addition to the Ceyhan, the rivers Aksu Çayı and Körsulu Deresi also flow into the reservoir. The hydropower plant has three 95 MW Francis turbines . The standard work capacity is 725 GWh per year. Upstream is the Kılavuzlu Dam , downstream is the Berke Dam .
