The Aslantaş Dam ( Turkish Aslantaş Barajı ) is a dam on the Ceyhan in the Osmaniye Province in southern Turkey .
The Aslantaş dam was built between 1975 and 1984 for the purpose of irrigation , flow regulation and energy generation . The barrier structure is a 78 m high earth embankment dam (above the valley floor) . The crown length is 585 m. The reservoir covers an area of 49 km² and extends in the north to the neighboring province of Kahramanmaraş . The storage space is 1183 million m³. The hydropower plant has three 46 MW Francis turbines . The standard work capacity is 605 GWh per year. The dam is designed for the irrigation of an area of 118,076 ha. The Berke Dam is located upstream and the Oşkan Barrage downstream .
In the south of the reservoir, the Karatepe mountain forms a peninsula, on which lies the late Hittite fortress Karatepe-Arslantaş , which gave the lake its name.
