Beaches and bays in Mallorca

S'Arenalet des Verger (also: S'Arenalet d'Aubarca ) is a small beach in the northeast of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca . It is located 8 kilometers north of the small town of Artà .

Location and description

Penya Roja (Red Rock)

Located in the northern part of the municipality of Artà , in the area of Aubarca (also Albarca ), the beach is only accessible on foot along the coast, on a hiking trail starting at Cala Estreta (from there about five kilometers to the west), or by off-road vehicle over private property respectively the public estates of the Parc natural de la península de Llevant can be reached. It is the westernmost beach on the northeast coast between Cap des Freu and Cap de Ferrutx with a view of the Red Rock ( Penya Roja ), where the coastal hiking trail ends from the east and turns inland.

The beach itself at the mouth of the Torrent de Penya Roja is made of yellow sand. The vegetation here is already poorer compared to the neighboring beach sa Font Celada to the east . About 100 meters from the shoreline is the building La Casa de s'Arenalet , also Refugi de s'Arenalet , which is now a hostel. However, there are no fences around the site. The hiking trail to the west leads uphill from Penya Roja to the viewpoints sa Tudosa and Talaia de Moreia above the Cap de Ferrutx .

Access

Coming from Artà take the MA-15 road towards Cala Rajada , then follow the signs to Cala Torta . At the right-hand junction to Cala Torta, choose the straight road towards Cala Estreta . This is where the road ends and the coastal footpath leads west to s'Arenalet des Verger .
