The SC Victoria 1914 Templin e. V. is a sports club in the city of Templin in the north of Brandenburg . The club, which has around 250 members, has been playing football exclusively since 2006. He uses the municipal stadium of friendship , which holds 3000 spectators. It is equipped with a grass field and athletics facilities.

Structural development

The history of SC Victoria goes back to 1914, when FC Viktoria Templin was founded in the then 5600 inhabitants of the district town. In 1922 it merged with Templiner SV to form SC Viktoria Templin 1914. Today's Stadium of Friendship was inaugurated on June 10, 1923. On February 24, 1936, the SV Viktoria was dissolved at the instigation of the district leadership of the NSDAP and merged with the men's gymnastics club from 1862 to form the gymnastics and sports club from 1862 Templin.

The TSV was also dissolved after the Second World War as part of the general ban on sports clubs in the Soviet occupation zone . A loosely organized sports community was set up to continue the sports business, which on September 2, 1948 gave itself fixed structures and the name "SG Union Templin". In 1949 the name was changed to "SG Progress". After sport in East Germany was reorganized on the basis of company sports associations (BSG) from 1948, the Templin municipal business enterprise KWU took over the sports association in April 1950 and converted it into the BSG KWU Templin. When the central “ Sportvereinigung Einheit ” was brought into being for the state and municipal administrative institutions, the BSG was renamed “Einheit Templin” on May 4, 1951. Usually the BSG maintained several sports sections, but only became known beyond the district boundaries through its soccer team.

After the political change in 1989 , the state administration stopped supporting the company sports community. In order to be able to continue the sports traffic, BSG members founded a registered association in 1990 , which was initially called "SC Victoria 1990 Templin". Following on from the old traditions, the club was renamed "SC Victoria 1914 Templin" on June 18, 1990.

Development of the sport of football

SC Victoria achieved its greatest success when it was promoted to 1st class of the Association of Berlin Ball Game Clubs (VBB) in 1928 . The Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg , established in 1933, could neither reach SC Victoria nor its successor TSV. After the Second World War, the BSG KWU or unit began in the district class, first in Brandenburg Northeast, then Eberswalde and, in 1952, after the GDR districts were founded , Neubrandenburg. In 1953 he was promoted to the third-class district league Neubrandenburg , and after relegation in 1956, he was immediately promoted again. In 1964 Templin fell victim to the reduction of the district league from two to one relay, and 10th place meant relegation to the district class. Between 1967 and 1969 the team was reinforced by five players from the Soviet Templin garrison. Although this brought substantial reinforcement, the Soviet engagement was ended after two years, as the German players refused to continue playing with "Russians". Only in 1971 succeeded in returning to the third division, which had to be left again in 1975. The third ascent came in 1980, in 1988 came the final district league within the GDR football business.

The BSG unit qualified three times for the GDR-wide competition for the FDGB soccer cup . In the first round of the competition in 1957 Templin received the Berlin district league club SC Motor Berlin , but after a 2: 3 defeat he was immediately eliminated from the cup competition. In 1983 Templin won the Neubrandenburg Cup final against BSG Baumechanik Neubrandenburg with 2-1. So she moved back into the GDR Cup competition. On August 14, 1983, the BSG unit received the second division forward Stralsund in the first round of the cup and did not advance after a 2-0 draw. In 1990, Einheit Templin won the cup for the last time in the GDR district of Neubrandenburg. The Templiner won the final on June 6, 1990 against Motor Süd Neubrandenburg 2-1. In the last GDR Cup competition, the first round at home against the first division club Hansa Rostock had to be played. Rostock, who played two classes higher, clearly won 5-1.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the football season 1990/91 was already carried out in the DFB game system . Without losing points, the Templin unit had fought its way up in the Neubrandenburg district class and entered the Frankfurt district league as SC Victoria in the summer of 1990. A year later, the team qualified for the then fifth-class Brandenburg State League, in which SC Victoria played until relegation in 2000. After eight years in the 7th and 8th national league, he returned to the national league in 2009.
