The 184.501 to 184.504 are electric locomotives of the Czech railway company SD - Kolejová doprava (SD-KD).
history
In 1988 the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) commissioned Škoda in Plzeň to develop a new six-axle electric locomotive for the 3 kV direct current system . Extensive use of the tried and tested assemblies of the four-axis 163 series was required .
The new locomotive was primarily intended as a replacement for the outdated freight train series 181 and 182 . In addition, a locomotive for heavy express train traffic was to be derived by changing the gear ratio. The serial numbers 184 (for the freight train version) and 164 (for the express train version) were provided for in the ČSD EDP numbering scheme introduced in 1988. The series delivery was originally supposed to include 300 locomotives.
It was not until 1994 that Škoda completed the first two prototype locomotives 184.001 and 184.002. The 184.002 was experimentally equipped with a gear ratio for 155 km / h top speed. In the course of 1994, both locomotives were extensively tested on the test ring in Velim . The 184.002 reached a top speed of 200 km / h.
Due to the social and economic upheavals after the Velvet Revolution in 1989 and the subsequent division of the country into the Czech Republic and Slovakia , there was no order for series locomotives. The two prototype locomotives were then acquired in 1996 by the mining company Severočeské doly as works locomotives. There they were given the numbers 184.501 and 184.502. In 1999 two more locomotives were built for the mining company.
In 2001, Severočeské doly founded the wholly owned subsidiary SD - Kolejová doprava . In the new company, the entire standard-gauge connecting railway and mine railway operations of the Doly Bílina and Doly Nástup Tušimice mines were combined. The four locomotives have also been owned by SD - Kolejová doprava since then. They are used in front of the lignite block trains to supply the Tušimice power plant.
