SDAGE

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In France , the SDAGE ( Schéma directeur d'aménagement et de gestion des eaux - Directive on the management and management of waters) has the task of ensuring the implementation of the law of January 3, 1992 at the level of the large water catchment areas:

L'eau fait partie du patrimoine commun de la nation. Sa protection, sa mise en valeur et le développement de la ressource utilisable, dans le respect des équilibres naturels, sont d'intérêt général.

The water is part of the national heritage. Its protection, its use and the development of resources, with respect for the natural balance, are in the general interest.

The main subject of the SDAGE's work is laid down in the law:

  • Preservation of ecosystems, the landscape and wetlands,
  • Protection from any pollution and restoration of water quality
  • Development and protection of drinking water reserves
  • Classification of water as an economic resource and division of this resource

But the SDAGE refer also to specific issues of water protection, such as in the region Artois - Picardie with the old coal mining area in the departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais and the consequences that result from the coal production for the water balance.

The guidelines are drawn up by the state, the regions and the departments. They are controlled by the Agence de l'eau .

The SDAGE serves as a general framework for the elaboration of the Schéma d'aménagement et de gestion des eaux ( SAGE - Plan for the management and administration of water bodies), which must be drawn up for every water-bearing system.
