The SG Bornim is a German football club from the Potsdam district Bornim . The Bornim sports complex is home to the 270-member club.

society

The SG Bornim was founded in 1927, but joined in 1928 after a merger with Schwarz-Weiß-Grün Universum Töplitz under the name BSC Bornim Schwarz-Weiß-Grün. The club operated in the Havelland always lower class until 1945, any participation in the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg did not take place.

In 1945 the club was dissolved and re-established as SG Bornim. The SG Bornim was one of the few sports associations in the GDR that, like Concordia Wilhelmsruh , Berolina Stralau or SG Hohenschönhausen , completed games without a sponsor . Compared to company sports teams and sponsored local teams such as the SC Potsdam , ASK Potsdam forward or People's Police Potsdam was the SG not permanently competitive, but was from 1972 to 1984 in the third-class district league Potsdam .

After the reunification, the SG Bornim achieved a rapid athletic rise. In 1991 the SG rose to the district league. In the following season Bornim went through the state league and rose to the Brandenburg Association for the first time . In the opening season, the then rather unknown SG Bornim failed because of Motor Eberswalde , in the 1994/95 season it surprisingly left the promotion favorites Viktoria Frankfurt and Babelsberg 03 behind. The Oberliga Nordost held the Brandenburgers a total of three seasons until 1998, with the SG mainly acting in the relegation battle.

The Association League Brandenburg held the SG Bornim only in 1998/99 with a ninth place, in the following season the sports community was withdrawn from the top tier of Brandenburg for financial reasons. In 2002, the SG rose from the national class and then played in the Havelland-Mitte district league. In 2013 she returned to the national class.
