The SV Roßbach / Verscheid (until 2007 SV Roßbach / Wied ) is a sports club founded in 1968 from the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Roßbach an der Wied. Between 1994 and 2007 the football department played in a syndicate with SV Verscheid as SG Roßbach / Verscheid . In the 2019/20 season, SV Roßbach / Verscheid plays in the district league A Westerwald / Wied.
history
Five years after SpVgg Breitscheid-Roßbach had stopped playing, Roßbach made a new attempt to found a football club in 1968. Under the chairmanship of Peter Groß, 48 members launched the SV Roßbach / Wied. The club , which was originally founded as a football club, was incorporated into a table tennis department in 1971 and a department for women's gymnastics in 1995 .
The most successful sports division is the football department. In the first 20 years of its existence, the club played in the lower leagues of the Rhineland Football Association . Only in 1988 did a football boom in Roßbach start with the construction of a new sports field. The youth department grew to five teams. One year after entering a syndicate with the neighboring SV Verscheid, in 1995 under coach Rudi Schmitz the promotion to the district league A was achieved for the first time. Immediate relegation was followed by promotion to district league A in 1997, promotion to the district league in 1998, and promotion to the district league in 2000 Landesliga and in 2001 finally in the Rhineland League.
In the 2005/06 season the SG Roßbach / Verscheid became champions of the Rhineland League, but were not allowed to move up to the Oberliga Südwest as a syndicate. In the same year, the team qualified as a participant in the final of the Rhineland Cup for the first main round of the DFB Cup , where it lost 4-1 to Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach in September 2006 . After the dissolution of the syndicate with Verscheid, SV Roßbach / Wied was again champion of the Rhineland League in the 2006/07 season and was promoted to the Oberliga Südwest for the first time.
In his first league season ( 2007/08 ) the promoted team attracted attention in the first half of the season with surprise victories against the promotion favorites from Pirmasens, Kaiserslautern, Homburg and Worms. The Roßbachers also managed to win points at 1. FC Saarbrücken. However, since they lost to some supposedly weaker opponents, the team took tenth place at the winter break. A very mixed second half brought the team from the Wiedtal to 12th place. In the following season 2008/09 the team finished 8th in the final ranking, 14th in the 2009/10 season and 13th place in 2010/11 . In 2011/12 they were only 15th, but this season they won the Rhineland Cup with a 2-0 win in Emmelshausen against TuS Mayen . SV Roßbach / Verscheid qualified for the first round of the DFB Cup 2012/13 , where they met Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05 and were eliminated 4-0. In the 2013/2014 season, SV RoßbachVerscheid took 18th place, which meant relegation from the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar. For the 2014/15 season they didn't take their place in the Rhineland League, but instead the club withdrew to the district league B North Westerwald / Wied, in which they became champions straight away and for the 2015/16 season they moved to the district league A Westerwald / Rose again.
