The SJ Zs class included three Swedish small diesel locomotives . They were used by Statens Järnvägar (SJ) for use in handover services, at train stations and in the workshop service in railway depots.

history

In addition to the SJ Zm series, which are built in larger numbers, SJ ordered other shunting tractors of various types from Bjurström in Västervik . In 1932 a shunting locomotive with the serial number 128 was delivered with a narrow driver's cab, which was in service until 1933 without a series number and was then designated as the Zs 31 .

Zs 39 and Zs 40 followed in 1933 , which were given these numbers based on the serial numbers 139 and 140. The two locomotives were built according to the Bjurström type T15 and had wide cabs. All locomotives had a Knorr-Bremse and were delivered at a price of 20,000 kroner each, agreed in 1931 .

SJ Z2 (I)

As part of the numbering plan change in 1942 for small locomotives at SJ , the three locomotives were included in the SJ Z2 (I) series . The operating numbers of the locomotives remained unchanged.

SJ Z3 (I)

When the small locomotives were re-sorted at SJ, the three locomotives were added to the SJ Z3 (I) series in 1945 . Again the serial numbers remained unchanged.

Whereabouts

  • Z3 31 was parked in 1970 and made available to the railway school in Ängelholm . The scrapping took place in 1983 in Örebro .
  • Z3 39 received in the meantime a gasoline engine of the type Ford 2711E with 53 kW, but later again the Tidaholm engine. In 1981 it was classified as a railway service vehicle of the SJ with the number Qaz 9440065, which was based in Norrköping. In 1986 the number was changed to Qzb 9440065. The shunting tractor ran with this number until 1997 in Norrköping and was taken over by SweMaint AB in 1998 . The locomotive was in use for the maintenance company for rail freight cars in Norrköping until 2009.
  • Z3 40 was parked in 1961 and sold to Skånes Skogsägares Cellulosa AB in Broby in 1963. There it was scrapped around 1973.
