Broby Church

Broby is a place ( tätort ) in the province County Skåne and the historical province Scania . The place is also the capital of the municipality Östra Göinge and is located on the west bank of the river Helge å .

Broby has had a church since the Middle Ages. However, today's Östra Broby kyrka was essentially not created until 1932.

Since 1773, a large market has been held twice a year on the town's market square. This motif was used by Selma Lagerlöf in her novel Gösta Berling .

The now closed Hästveda – Karpalund railway ran through Broby . The section between Broby and Glimminge can now be driven with trolleys that can be rented in Broby .

Personalities

The Swedish politician Hans Johnsson (1840–1912) was born in Broby .
