SKIF Krasnodar ( Russian СКИФ Краснода́р ) is a handball club from the Russian city of Krasnodar . It was founded in 1963 and was named "Burewestnik" (Буревестник, petrel), "University" (Университет), "SKIF" (СКИФ), "Arkadija-SKIF" (Аркадия-СКИФ- (СКИФ- "SKIF-Rosneft)" Роснефть), "SKIF-Kuban" (СКИФ-Кубань) and since 2007 "SKIF" again. From 1964 the team was allowed to take part in the Soviet championship. From 1969 to 1971 SKIF was third three times in a row, also from 1988 to 1990. In 1990 , the club won its first and so far only international title in the EHF Cup , back then as the IHF Cup. The only national championships were added in 1991 and 1992. The Soviet Cup was won for the only time in 1992. SKIF Krasnodar has been taking part in the Russian Handball Super League since 1993 .
