SS80 bridge
The SS80 bridge is a standardized temporary bridge construction type . The abbreviation SS80 bridge stands for two-lane heavy-duty road bridge for single spans of up to 80 meters , or heavy road equipment 80 m . It is a truss support system.
The SS 80 bridge was developed on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport and will be made available from there on request. The federally owned components are kept at central storage facilities. Including in a hall of the Gau-Bickelheim motorway maintenance depot .
Originally, this type of temporary bridge was intended to enable a bridge structure to be quickly restored in an emergency during the Cold War .
The structural components of the SS80 bridge are reduced to two main assemblies:
- Truss longitudinal girders consisting of diagonals and straps
- Cross structure consisting of orthotropic bridge panels

ThyssenKrupp:
- SS 80 bridge system
- The fixed bridge device SS 80, the steel framework of which consists of standardized components and is assembled with screw connections, is particularly suitable for cantilevering on the system's own roller batteries. The maximum span is 80.5 m. Due to the hydraulic drive technology, the device can be moved evenly and jerk-free over the underpassed flowing traffic for pre- roll assemblies with a front-mounted nose .
