The SVO Germaringen is a sports club from the Swabian community of Germaringen in Ostallgäu . The footballers have qualified for the main round of the DFB Cup three times in the past .
history
In 1930, 32 football fans founded the Obergermaringen game association, which won a local cup in its founding year. At the beginning of the Second World War , the men's team was stopped.
In 1946, the club took part again in league operations , reinforced by expellees and in 1949 won the championship in the 2nd district league.
From 1956 to 1971 the club played in the A-class. During this time, several modifications were made to the sports facilities.
The successful time of the SVO began in 1970. After the championship of the A-class in 1971, the march into the national league succeeded in 1972. The club belonged to the Landesliga Süd, at that time the fourth highest division in the German league system, for a total of 10 years.
In 1976 the club qualified for the DFB Cup for the first time. After a 9-0 win on August 8, 1976 in the first main round in front of a home crowd against VfR Laboe , the team failed in round 2 away at Bundesliga club Arminia Bielefeld with 0: 6 in front of almost 3,500 spectators.
The SVO was allowed to compete twice more in the DFB Cup, but both times failed in the first main round: 1978/79 (1: 7 at home against second division VfR Bürstadt ) and 1982/83 (also in front of a home crowd against the Westphalian upper division side) Hammer SpVg , 1: 2).
