The Swiss People's Party of Graubünden ( Rhaeto-Romanic ; Italian : Unione democratica di Centro Grigioni ) is a political party in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . It is the youngest cantonal section of the Swiss People's Party (SVP).
On June 16, 2008, the previously existing SVP Graubünden renamed itself as a reaction to its exclusion from the national SVP in BDP Graubünden , a consequence of the election of Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf as Federal Councilor and the associated dismissal of Christoph Blocher . The new SVP Graubünden was founded on June 19, 2008 in St. Moritz by people who felt they belonged to the line of the national party. In the 2015 National Council elections , she achieved a 29.7% share of the vote and took 2 out of 5 seats. It became the new strongest party in the canton. The BDP came in fourth with 14.5%.
With Magdalena Martullo-Blocher, the party currently has only one member of the National Council after Heinz Brand was voted out of office in the 2019 parliamentary elections . Its member Christoffel Brändli was the Council of States for Graubünden from 1995 to 2011 .
