Christoffel Brändli

Christoffel Brändli (born March 7, 1943 in Vnà , Graubünden ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). From 1995 to 2011 he was the Council of States for Graubünden and was President of the Council of States in the 2007/2008 term of office . He lives in Landquart .

Education, job and private life

Brändli attended primary and secondary school in Landquart and graduated from the canton school in Chur . He then studied at the University of St. Gallen and graduated with the academic degree “Mag. oec. HSG ”. From 1965 to 1983 he taught as a commercial teacher at various schools and from 1975 to 1979 headed the Migros Club School in Chur. Christoffel Brändli has been working as a business consultant since 1995.

Christoffel Brändli is President of the Board of Directors of the health insurance association santésuisse and Vice-President of the Health Insurance Ombudsman

He is married to Gretursina Brändli, has three children and speaks German, Romansh, French, Italian and English.

Political activity

From 1969 to 1979 Brändli was a local councilor in Igis- Landquart and from 1979 to 1983 mayor there. In 1971 he was elected to the Grand Council and then in 1983 to the Government Council . He held this office until 1995, when he was elected to the Council of States .

Brändli was a member of the parliamentary commissions for social security and health (SGK), for the environment, spatial planning and energy (UREK) and for transport and telecommunications (KVF). He was a member of the Swiss People's Party until the Graubünden SVP section was excluded . After that, Brändli politicized for almost two months as a non-party and announced on August 9, 2008 that he would join the newly founded SVP Graubünden . In the 2011 elections , Brändli did not run.
