The Grevesmühlener FC is a German football club from Grevesmühlen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .
History and sporting career
Blau-Weiß Grevesmühlen emerged from the Sports Association (SG) Grevesmühlen , which was founded in 1945 as part of the reorganization of sport in the Soviet occupation zone (SBZ) . When sport in the GDR, which had now been established, was converted to a new economic basis in the form of company sports associations (BSG) at the beginning of the 1950s, the BSG Empor Grevesmühlen was founded on November 25, 1951 . On January 1, 1958, the name was changed to BSG Einheit Grevesmühlen . The name "unit" stood for a carrier company from the state administration. In the first few years after the founding of the GDR, the footballers commuted between the Mecklenburg State League, which existed until the GDR states were dissolved , and the Rostock district league, which was introduced in 1952, and the district class below in the league system . During the Soviet occupation zone, the SG Grevesmühlen achieved their best result with seventh place in the regional league in 1947.
The most successful sporting period of the BSG unit was the 1970s, in which the football section played a total of three seasons ( 1971/72 , 1975/76 and 1976/77 ) in the second-rate GDR league . However, they ended up in a relegation zone in both 1972 and 1977, only in the 1975/76 season the BSG managed to stay in league with a tenth place. This puts the team in 141st place in the Eternal Table of the GDR League . A return to a supraregional league was no longer successful unit Grevesmühlen, so that the BSG only played at the district level in the 1980s.
After German reunification , as in the pre-war period and afterwards in the Federal Republic, it was possible to found sports clubs. The previous BSG members founded the Blau-Weiß Grevesmühlen sports club in 1991 . In it gradually emerged u. a. the football, handball, badminton, basketball, judo, tennis, table tennis, gymnastics, volleyball and athletics departments. In 1998, the first men's team playing in the district league (7th division) was detached from the club, which has since appeared as Grevesmühlen FC . In 2003 she was promoted to the national league, which has been in seventh class since 2008, in which she was active until she was relegated in 2012. After a season in the national class Season VI, the team managed to return to the regional league West for the 2013/14 season. After relegation in the following season one was in the district league Schwerin-Northwest Mecklenburg champion and rose to the district league.
