The SV Klausen (officially: Sport-Verein Klausen 1929 eV ) is a sports club from Klausen in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich . The first football team played a year in the then fourth-class Oberliga Südwest .

history

The club was founded in 1929 as the Blau-Weiß Klausen sports club . Matthias Budinger was elected the first chairman. Five years later, under the chairman Jakob Heger and the youth supervisor Pater Ova, the association was renamed DJK Klause n and incorporated into the DJK sports association . During the Second World War the game was closed, so that it was not until 1946 that the sports club was re-established with the name SV Klausen . The first chairman was Hans Gansen.

The sporting boom began in the early 1990s when the SVK reached the district league in 1993 under coach Hilairus Comtesse after two consecutive promotions. Two years later, he made the leap into the regional league, before advancing to the Rhineland league in 1997 under coach Alfred Weyland . After a third place in the 2001/02 season, the club sought a merger with the neighboring club SV Wittlich , which failed. A year later, the team rose as champions in the Oberliga Südwest.

As a knocked-down bottom of the table, the direct relegation followed. After almost the entire team left the club, the SVK announced its team from the Rhineland league season 2004/05. Only two years later a new start was started in the district league C Mosel . After two promotions, SV Klausen played in the district league A until 2013 and was relegated to the district league B.

For the 2016/17 season, the SG Salmbachtal game community was founded, which consisted of the four towns of Klausen , Sehlem , Rivenich and Esch and played in the district league A Mosel. After relegation in 2019, the club is playing alone again under its own name.

The Klausener referee Edmund Gansen directed games up to the Bundesliga .
