The SV Schlebusch 1923 e. V. is a soccer club from Leverkusen - Schlebusch playing in the Landesliga Mittelrhein .

history

The first few years after the foundation were mainly characterized by the construction of their own stadium in the east of Leverkusen and the establishment of a successful youth work, as a result of which the 1st senior team was promoted to the 1st district.

After the Second World War , the association quickly established itself again in the higher classes of the association area thanks to the targeted promotion of its own talents.

On October 23, 1960, SV Schlebusch met in the first main round of the West German Cup against their higher-class neighbor Bayer 04 Leverkusen , who was then playing in the second-highest class. 2000 spectators followed the local duel, in which the team from the amateur camp defeated the highly popular local rivals 3-1. With 1. FC Köln, the club got one of the most attractive opponents for the second round of the cup and dominated top German football in the following years. The team from the second highest amateur class met on December 26, 1960 against a top team of the Oberliga West , which has always reached the finals for the German football championship since 1957, and in the summer of 1960 the final for the German football championship against HSV 2: 3 had lost. The game ended 0-4. The game was broadcast on the radio by a team from WDR.

In the summer of 1956/57 the club became champions of the regional league and in 1961 SV Schlebusch rose to the highest German amateur class, the Mittelrhein Association League . Under the direction of Paul Mebus , who was one of Sepp Herberger's 1954 World Cup squad, the club immediately reached 3rd place in the table behind master Tura Bonn (one of the founding clubs of Bonner SC ) in the first season in this class . The second league season ended in 3rd place. After two points behind autumn champion Viktoria Alsdorf at the halfway point of the season , they took over the championship lead after a neck-and-neck race with Tura Bonn on the penultimate matchday and defended it a week later in front of 2,000 spectators with a 7-0 win the local rival, VfL Leverkusen, which meant winning the Middle Rhine Championship.

In 1971 he was relegated from the Mittelrhein Association League and from 1976 onwards, membership in the state and district leagues changed for many years. In the 2008/09 season, the club was with a record balance (78 points at 112: 35 goals) district league champions and rose again to the regional league Middle Rhine . Three years later, relegation to the district league followed in the 2012/13 season. After another three years, the club returned in 2016 under the coaching duo Stefan Müller / David Gsella with the new club record of 81 points and 103: 25 goals after 26 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat.

Youth work

FC Köln ), his brother Hans, who played in the Dutch Eredivisie , professional and later goalkeeper coach ( FC Bayern Munich and FC Schalke 04 ) Bernd Dreher and the former junior national player Paul came from it Zilles emerged. Under the current leadership (2016) of the youth leader and national merit medalist Nuri Kurt, who has been in office for the fourth decade, SV Schlebusch trains the “staff” of its two senior teams in its up to 23 youth teams annually, with the talents of SV Schlebusch also contributing higher-class neighbors are used.
