Viktoria Güsten was a sports club founded in 1904 in the German Empire with its seat in the small town of Güsten within what is now the Saale-Wipper community in the Saxony-Anhalt Salzlandkreis .

history

The association was founded in 1904. The club played in the 1st district class at least from the 1920/21 season. In the 1923/24 season, the soccer team became champions of the 1st district class Harzgau Staffel B and was thus allowed to participate in the promotion round to the Gauliga. At the end of this, the club rose to the 1924/25 season in the Gau Elbe / Bode within the Central German championship of the VMBV .

In the first season the team finished second in the table with 17:11 points. This place could be repeated in the following season , but at the same time the club qualified via this place this time for the second round. Before that, there was a playoff against the equal points at SV Teutonia Aschersleben which was previously won with 1: 3. In the final round for second place in the German championship this year, the team then failed with 2: 3 n.V. at SpVgg Thale 04 .

The 1926/27 season could then be completed first in the Gau for the first time, but this required another playoff. This could be won 4: 1 against FC Askania Aschersleben . In the final round of the Central German Championship, however, they did not get beyond the first preliminary round, in which the team lost 10-0 at SpVgg 1907 Meerane . The following season could then be concluded again as the winner of the Gaus. In the final round it did not go beyond the first preliminary round. This time the team lost 6-1 at SC Apolda . After this season the Gau Elbe / Bode was dissolved. The Viktoria competed in the Gau Anhalt from the next season .

Due to the new strong competition, the team could no longer match their old strengths, with 18:22 points they only managed to occupy 9th place at the end of the season. After the 1929/30 season , with 10:26 points, it was only enough for 10th and thus last place, with which the team had to relegate for the first time. For the 1931/32 season it was finally possible to move up to the Gau Anhalt . With 17:19 points and a goal difference of 33:36, they achieved a position in midfield with 6th place. The 1932/33 season should be the last first-class season for the club, with 15:21 points they finished 8th at the end of the season. After the National Socialists came to power , the Gauliga Mitte was introduced, but no club from the Anhalt Gau was considered. What happened to the club in the following years is not known, but the club was dissolved after the Second World War at the latest .
