The Saalesparkasse based in Halle (Saale) is the savings bank of the Saalekreis and the city of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt . It is jointly sponsored by the district and the city and a member of the East German Savings Banks and Giro Association .

Saalesparkasse had total assets of 4.958 billion euros in the 2019 financial year and customer deposits of 4.139 billion euros. According to the 2019 Sparkasse Ranking List, it ranks 67th in terms of total assets. It has 77 branches / self-service locations and employs 732 people. The Saalesparkasse was created on December 31, 2007 through the merger of the Stadt- und Saalkreissparkasse Halle with the Kreissparkasse Merseburg-Querfurt. The predecessor institutes each came into being in 1952 as part of the reorganization of the savings banks in the GDR . The first savings bank in the city of Halle (Saale) was founded in 1819 as Hallesche Sparkassen-Gesellschaft .

The Saalesparkasse business area covers around 1,570 km² - in the city of Halle (Saale) and the district of Saalekreis - with almost 430,000 inhabitants. With around 256,000 customers, Saalesparkasse is an important financial partner in the region. With currently 47 branches, 37 self-service points and two mobile branches, around 780 employees at over 60 locations advise on many financial and economic issues.

In the years from 2010 to 2015 and from 2017 to 2019, Saalesparkasse was awarded first place in the CityContest, in which the quality of advice in private customer business was tested. For this she received the title "10 year winner" in 2019. The CityContest is organized by the Institute for Asset Development in Munich (IVA) and the Focus Money magazine.
