Sabine Fellner

Sabine Fellner (born October 22, 1959 ) is an Austrian art historian , curator and author .

Life

Sabine Fellner studied art history and history at the University of Vienna and the Sorbonne in Paris and received her doctorate in 1987. From 1989 to 1993 she worked as a curator at the Austrian Tobacco Museum and has been the curator of the JTI Collection Vienna of JTI Austria GmbH (formerly Austria Tabak ) since 2003 . Since 1994 she has been working as a freelance exhibition curator on current socio-political issues such as the exhibitions Der nackte Mann ( Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz , 2012), Rabenmütter ( Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz , 2015; nominated for the art curator award 2016), Die Kraft des Alters ( Austrian Galerie Belvedere Vienna, 2018) and Women Now ( Austrian Cultural Forum New York 2018) but also with topics from Austrian art history such as Troublemakers - the horror of the avant-garde from Makart to Nitsch ( Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz , 2008), The Better Half. Jewish artists until 1938 ( Jewish Museum Vienna , 2016; Hans and Lea Grundig Prize 2017,) and most recently City of Women ( Austrian Gallery Belvedere Vienna, 2019; nominated for the art curator award 2019). Fellner published several publications on the subject of everyday culture and on Austrian art and cultural history of the 19th and 20th centuries. She is a board member of the Sigmund Freud Society in Vienna.
