Sabine Fischer (politician)

Sabine Fischer (née Hofmann ; born February 2, 1948 in Herzberg (Elster) ) is a former German FDGB functionary and politician . She was the chairwoman of the FDGB district committee in Cottbus and a member of the Volkskammer in the FDGB parliamentary group.

Life

Fischer, daughter of a farming family , attended high school. In 1962 she joined the FDJ . Between 1964 and 1966 she completed an apprenticeship as a chemical technician. In 1964 she became a member of the FDGB. From 1966 to 1969 she studied at the engineering school for chemistry "Justus von Liebig" in Magdeburg , graduating as an engineer for chemical technology. From 1969 to 1971 she worked as a shift engineer in the VEB chemical fiber factory "Herbert Warnke" in Guben . From 1971 to 1981 she was a full-time member, from 1981 to 1985 chairwoman of the central company union management there . In 1974 she joined the SED and in 1979 attended the SED's Cottbus district party school. From 1985 to 1988 she was chairwoman of the district executive committee of the chemical, glass and ceramics union . In 1988/89 she was chairwoman of the FDGB district board in Cottbus, member of the secretariat of the SED district board in Cottbus and member of the federal board of the FDGB.

From 1971 to March 1990, as a member of the FDGB parliamentary group, Fischer was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR and a member of the Committee on Labor and Social Policy.
