Sachiko Yamashita

Sachiko Yamashita ( Japanese 山下 佐 知 子 , Yamashita Sachiko ; born August 20, 1964 ) is a former Japanese marathon runner .

The athlete, who grew up in Tottori , finished fourth in the Nagoya Marathon in 2:34:59 on her debut in 1989 . In the same race three years later, with a victory in 2:31:02, she qualified for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in 1991 , where she won the silver medal in her personal best behind Wanda Panfil (POL) and ahead of Katrin Dörre (GER) 2:29:57.

At the marathon of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , she finished fourth in 2:36:26.
