Life

Born in 1964 in Dippa Kunda , a district of Serekunda , Hydara grew up partly in Sierra Leone . Like Yahya Jammeh , he joined the Gambia National Gendarmerie in 1984 and rose to the rank of lieutenant ( second lieutenant ). In 1993 he switched to the Gambia National Army .

In the bloodless military coup of the military junta Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC) on July 22, 1994, Lieutenant Sadibou Hydara played a key role. In the transitional government up to the presidential elections in 1996 , he acted as Minister of the Interior .

However, on January 27, 1995, he was arrested with Sana B. Sabally and detained in Mile Two Prison near Banjul . They were said to have planned an attack on Jammeh. Before the two could be tried, Hydara mysteriously died in June 1995. The official explanation was that he died of natural causes; however, an independent autopsy was not permitted. Lamin Kaba Bajo became his successor in the ministerial office .
