The legendary and fairy tale route Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a holiday route in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which has been under construction since 2008, with a cultural and regional history theme.

The aim of the project, which is supported by the Schwerin- based Petermännchen Kulturfördergesellschaft des alten Customums and the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Tourism Association, is the tourist development and marketing of cities , municipalities and districts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with a focus on children and families . Of three planned routes - in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin area , along the Baltic Sea coast as well as in the Mecklenburg Lake District and Western Pomerania - a section with 20 locations and about 500 kilometers in length was opened in West Mecklenburg in July 2008.

To implement this, facilities such as museums , castles and palaces , in which regional sagas , fairy tales , songs and customs are documented, are identified with a common emblem in the participating communities . Topic-related events will also be organized and established events will be included accordingly, and the publication of collections of legends and fairy tales in book form and other information material is planned. The planned routes can both in private transport by car or by bicycle or with public transport such as the train will come. The municipalities involved are marked accordingly by a sign at the entrance to the village.

The project is largely based on the notes of the Mecklenburg folklorist Richard Wossidlo from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
