The Österreichische Staatsdruckerei used intaglio printing and halftone gravure printing as a combination printing . The stamps were printed in sheets of 100 pieces.
Edition numbers
Most of the circulation figures are not known, but experience shows that it can be assumed that they were up to a few hundred million per issue. Due to the postage rate and the running time, the definitive stamps for 6.50 and 7.00 schillings were produced most frequently. The higher values are less common.
particularities
The previous definitive series of the Austrian Post were the works of art from monasteries and monasteries in Austria . This definitive series was the last with the shilling currency.
The successor to this series was the issue of Ferienland Austria , Austria's first definitive stamp series with euro currency.
The value of 10.00 Schilling (Basilisk von Wien) was also issued as a small block with a limited edition. This block was numbered and issued together with the entrance ticket to the WIPA 2000 (Vienna International Postage Stamp Exhibition 2000) on the occasion of 150 years of Austrian postage stamps from May 30, 2000 to June 4, 2000 in the Austria Center Vienna in Vienna .
Market value
The stamps are more valuable in mint condition than used or canceled ones, as there is a large inventory due to frequent everyday use.
As with most postage stamps, the value from the postage stamp catalogs is very much oversubscribed, especially if larger quantities ( kiloware ) are traded. The price in the catalogs can, however, be used as a comparison value between stamps.
As a result of the introduction of the euro , the stamps with schilling values clearly lost their value, as these are no longer valid for postage after a transitional period where an exchange was possible.
When the item is stamped, the price depends very much on the quality and legibility of the stamp (date, place, zip code). Complete series with beautiful stamps are more expensive.
