Said Khaibullovich Kjamilev

Said Chaibullowitsch Kjamilew ( Russian Саид Хайбуллович Кямилев , also transcribed Said Hibatullah Kyamilev ; born May 22, 1937 in Moscow ) is a Russian Arabist and orientalist . He is the director of the Institute of Islamic Civilization ( Russian Институт исламской цивилизации / Institut islamskoi ziwilisazii) in Moscow, a non-governmental organization that aims at scientific research and popularization of knowledge about Islam in Russia and the CIS .

Kjamilev studied at the Moscow Institute for International Relations and received his doctorate in 1966 at the Moscow Institute for Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences , where he began to work at the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies.

In 1997 the Institute of Islamic Civilization opened a department specializing in Arabic and Islamic studies, which he heads, in cooperation with the Moscow State Pedagogical University (MPSU) and the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) .

He is one of the Senior Fellows of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought is (Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought), and since 2001 he became a member of the Supreme Council for Education, Science and Culture in the West of ISESCO .

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ") (October 13, 2007).
