Saigon (born June 1, 1978 in Brooklyn , New York ; real name Brian Daniel Carenard ), also known as The Yardfather , Saigiddy and 96-A-0549 , is an American rapper .
biography
Saigon spent some of his youth with relatives in Brooklyn , New Jersey and Virginia . He started selling marijuana in the neighborhood at the age of 11 . At the age of 13 he got into a street gang . At the age of 15, Saigon was sentenced to prison for serious offenses, including assault with a gun. While in prison, he read a book by Wallace Terry about the Vietnam War , which inspired him and led him to his stage name Saigon.
Saigon is under contract with the music label Fort Knocks Entertainment of its discoverer Just Blaze .
In 2005 Saigon made a few brief appearances as himself in the second and third seasons of the TV series Entourage .
Saigon was attacked and injured in New York on the night of January 17, 2006. On September 18, 2007, he got into a fight with Prodigy of Mobb Deep in New York .
In November 2007, Saigon announced that it would end his career, but reversed this decision a short time later on his blog on his MySpace page. Together with Statik Selektah, he released the only digitally available album All in a Day's Work in March 2009 , which was supposedly recorded within a day. On February 15, 2011 he released his album "The Greatest Story Never Told", which reached number 7 in the rap album charts and number 61 in the official sales charts in the USA.
