The Saint City Orchestra is an east Swiss folk punk - band originating in St. Gallen , Switzerland .
Band history
The Saint City Orchestra came about by chance in 2013 when the band's founder, after attending a game at FC St. Gallen, met the organizer of a local Irish Rocknight and agreed to perform two months later. Later other band members were added and management was hired. Since it was founded, the Saint City Orchestra has played over 150 concerts in Switzerland and nearby countries.
After winning the Mx3 Award , they played a nearly two-hour music session on SRF 3 on September 13, 2018 .
Concept of live performances
Saint City Orchestra uses three voices, two guitars, a mandolin, an accordion, a violin, a bass and a tambourine and follows the concept: "Sometimes less is more." It creates original compositions with idiosyncratic interpretations by Flogging Molly , Dropkick Murphys or Mumford & Sons combined. The interaction with the audience is typical of their appearances.
