The Sala Stadium ( Hebrew אצטדיון סלה) is a football stadium in Ashkelon .
The Israeli football club Hapoel Ashkelon plays its home games in this stadium. The stadium was opened in 2002. The stadium holds 5,250 spectators.
On December 20, 2008, a Qassam rocket from the Gaza Strip, about 15 kilometers away , hit the stadium field. The rocket hit the penalty area a few minutes before the team started training .
