Peter Oelhaf

Peter Oelhaf (born August 19, 1599 in Danzig ; † December 27, 1654 ) was a German lawyer and historian .

Life

Peter Oelhaf attended schools in his hometown and studied at a university. On 25 May 1620 he received at the University of Rostock the master's degree of philosophy . He studied there until the next year and became a lecturer . Another year later, 1622, Oelhaf was appointed to the University of Königsberg and taught there. He also worked there as a preacher and as a vice inspector of the ducal alumni . From 1624 Oelhaf studied medicine , law , politics and history . In 1632 he moved back to Gdansk and became a syndic there . Five years later, in 1638, he became a professor of law and history. In 1640 he also obtained a doctorate in both sciences at the University of Königsberg . In 1653 he was retired at his own request. The reason was that Oelhaf fell ill, but one year later, on December 27, 1654, he died.
