history

The simple, small accommodation, built in 1968, is built exclusively for self-catering, in midsummer and autumn you also need to bring water. Gas cooker and dishes are available. It offers a view of the glaciated Dammakette and the Sustenhorn .

Since the Salbitbrücke suspension bridge was put into operation in 2010, access from the Salbithütte has been the safer and more convenient way to get to the Salbitschijenbiwak. This avoids the shorter, steep and rockfall-prone ascent through the Spicherribichelen.
