Technical data and history
The bridge is 90 meters long, has a walking width of 64 centimeters and rises 122 meters above the gorge.
The Salbit Bridge was built using material from the Trift Bridge from the Bernese Oberland, which was replaced by a new building, based on the model of Nepalese suspension bridges. It was opened on June 19, 2010 after a construction period of around two months and makes it easier to walk the connecting path between the huts, which until then was only possible on the old "chain path" with the help of via ferrata equipment. The construction costs amounted to 280,000 SFr. Because of the feared mass tourism, the project was controversial and met with objections.
