The Voralpreuss is a tributary of the Göschener Reuss in the municipality of Göschenen in the canton of Uri .
In the valley of the Voralp, a left side valley of the Göschenental , the river rises 7 kilometers in length on the slope firn below the Stucklistock . It absorbs streams from other glaciers, e.g. B. from Brunnenfirn and Flachensteinfirn east under the Sustenhorn - with the Schiessend Bach - as well as a group of brooks under the Hoch Horefellistock. The floodplain area in the lower alpine area includes streams, sand and gravel banks and flat moors between boulders. At the hamlet of Wiggen, 4.5 km west of Göschenen, the Voralpreuss reaches the Göschener Reuss.
Some of the water from the Voralpreuss is directed from a water intake between the Horefelli and Bodmen alpine steps through a 3.9 km long supply tunnel built in 1960 into the Göscheneralpsee , in order to be used by the Göschenen power station .
The valley is used for extensive alpine farming and is known in alpine sports thanks to the pre- alpine hut of the Swiss Alpine Club SAC, which is located far back in the valley near the Voralpreuss . The Uto SAC section built the first hut at this location in 1891. After expansions over time, the section rebuilt the hut that had been destroyed by an avalanche in 1989.
In August 1987, a flood event after heavy rain devastated the valley.
