The Saldurkopf (also called the Upper Saldurkopf to distinguish it from a western pre-summit ) is a 3429 m high mountain in the southern Ötztal Alps in South Tyrol .
Location and surroundings
The Saldurkopf rises in the Saldurkamm between the Matscher valley in the west and the Schnalstal in the east. The nearest peaks are in the north by a plurality of small comb projections and a 3358 m high notch separate Saldurspitze ( 3433 m ) and in South behind an approximately 3300 m high yoke the Ramudlaspitze ( 3366 m ). The Saldurkopf is surrounded on three sides by glacier surfaces. The Lagaunferner extends to the east, the Saldurferner to the northwest and the Ramudelferner to the southwest.
Alpinism
Behind the peaks of the Lagaunspitze ( 3438 m ) and the Saldurspitze ( 3433 m ), which are only about 800 m away, the Saldurkopf is only the third highest point in the vicinity and is therefore rarely visited. The Alpine Club leader describes an ascent as "only worthwhile in connection with the central peaks".
