Saley Boubé Bali

Saley Boube Bali (* 1963 in Zonkoto Banda ) is a Nigerien writer , journalist and literary critic .

Life

Saley Boubé Bali comes from a family of farmers in central west Niger. His birthplace, Zonkoto Banda, is a village in the rural parish of the municipality of Loga . Bali received a PhD in literary studies with an emphasis on female oral transmission . He conducted research at the Abdou Moumouni University in Niamey and took over the management of the Institute for Literature, Art and Communication at the University of Zinder .

Bali also worked as a journalist and published the geopolitical monthly magazine Notre Cause, l'Afrique , which he founded. He is the author of several novels in French . In his novel Sargadji l'indomptable , published in 2013 , he dealt with the resistance of the village of Sargadji against French colonization . Bali was involved in the cultural program of the La Francophonie Games in 2005 and the CENSAD Games in 2010, both of which took place in Niamey . In 2008 he was awarded the poetry prize awarded on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Niger.
