Sargadji (also: Sargaji , Sarkadié , Sarkadji ) is a village in the municipality of Loga in Niger .
The village, led by a traditional chief (chef traditionnel) , is located about five kilometers west of the city center of Loga, which belongs to the Loga department of the same name in the Dosso region. At the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, Sargadji was the scene of a revolt against the incipient French colonial rule . The causes of the Sargadji revolt were complex. One of the main reasons was the attempt to subordinate the independent settlements of Sargadji and Loga to the rule of Zarmakoye , the traditional ruler of Dosso , who was allied with the French . In August 1899 and February 1900, Zarma troops in Sargadji defeated the French armed forces in surprise attacks. A French delegation finally captured Sargadji and Loga on November 16 and 18, 1900. The places were destroyed, the inhabitants fled into the bushland and only gradually returned. The uprising flared up again briefly in 1905 until Sargadji was finally pacified in the same year. The writer Saley Boubé Bali dealt with the revolt in his 2013 novel Sargadji l'indomptable .
At the 2012 census, Sargadji had 4,297 inhabitants who lived in 597 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 3,539 in 410 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 3,624 in 455 households.
The Sargadji weekly market extends along national road 23 . The cattle market is one of the most important in the region , alongside those in Balleyara and in Loga town center. There is a primary school in Sargadji and a health center with a Center de Santé Intégré (CSI).
