Salomon Hirschfelder

Salomon Hirschfelder (born May 16, 1831 in Dettensee , † May 10, 1903 in Munich ) was a German painter .

Life

Salomon Hirschfelder was a son of the merchant Meier Hirschfelder and his wife Sarah. From 1853 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and developed into a genre painter . The state of Baden-Württemberg owns several paintings by Hirschfeld. The paintings The Bread Visitation from 1876 and The Maid's Office from 1896 can be seen in the town museum "Hoher Giebel" in Horb . Both pictures represent the second version of a lost painting. Images of the first versions in woodcuts are also available in Horb. There is also a portrait of a young lady in a red dress in Horb from around 1900 as well as memories of the Dettensee homeland and her parents' house from 1873. Another work by Hirschfelder is entitled Homecoming from the Sleigh Ride and dates from the year 1877. Hirschfelder supplied the Breslauer Volkskalender with numerous drawings.

In addition to painting, Hirschfelder also dealt with photography and music and worked as an inventor.
