Salt the Wound is an American deathcore band from Cleveland , Ohio that was formed in 2001. So far they have released two EPs and three studio albums. After the release of the album Carnal Repercussions , the band went on tour continuously, which eventually led to the breakup of the band in the first half of 2010. After some negotiations, however, the band reunited with new members as well as some original members and released a new album in 2011.

history

Salt the Wound was founded on September 11, 2001 by drummer Jim Agrippe and guitarist Mike Kawkabany. After both only played as a duo for a while, singer Kevin Schafer joined the band in 2003. This was followed by the addition of bassist Abe Zieliec and guitarist Jake Scott.

The band released two EPs in 2004 and 2005, but they didn't release their demos to attract labels. That changed in 2007 when they got a contract with Rotten Records . Salt the Wound received more attention in 2008 when they released their debut album, Carnal Repercussions . This meant that their songs were played on the radio and they increasingly went on tour. The album was sold around 75,000 times worldwide. The band finished recording their second album Ares , which was released on September 15, 2009. On the album Matthew Wessoly was the last singer to be heard before the band broke up.

On October 30, 2009, the band finally announced their breakup. They played a farewell tour in 2010. They gave their last concert in their hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.

reunion

Salt the Wound announced in November 2010 that they would play together again. Singer was now founding member Kevin Schaefer again and they released Kill the Crown (produced by Brian White) in March 2011.

style

Salt the Wound's style is based on classic deathcore , which is a mixture of metalcore and death metal . They also incorporate influences from Melodic Death Metal into their music. Vocally they include the Metal-typical Death growls , as well as the Metalcore-typical Screaming and Pig Squeals . Further features are the drums, which play extremely fast blastbeats , and the down-tuned electric guitars with melodic breakdowns . According to Salt the Wound, her main influences are bands like All Shall Perish , The Black Dahlia Murder and The Dillinger Escape Plan .
