Salvatore Piscicelli

Salvatore Piscicelli (born January 4, 1948 in Pomigliano d'Arco ) is an Italian film critic , director and screenwriter .

Life

Piscicelli completed his studies in modern literature and was active as a film critic from 1970 to 1978. He wrote u. a. for the periodicals “Avanti!”, “Cinemasessanta” and “Mondo Operaio”. Since 1976 he has also appeared as a director of short documentaries and television programs, which often dealt with the carnival in his native city . In 1979 he made his feature film debut with Immacolata e Concetta, l'altra gelosia , which received the “Silver Leopard” at the Locarno Film Festival . Further dramas followed in which he examined the sociological structures of contemporary Neapolitan society. Le occasioni di Sara was shown at the Venice Film Festival in 1981 and actress Marina Suma was awarded a David di Donatello ; 1985 Metropolitan Blues closes the Naples trilogy. With Regina (1987) and Baby Gang (1992) Piscicelli did not achieve great success. His next work, Il corpo dell'anima, was not published until 1999 . In 2001 and 2003 (the autobiographical Alla fine della notte ) his last two films were shown.

Until 1999, Piscicelli worked with author Carla Apuzzo on all films and is the author of two books.
