Samuel Thomas Dekker (born May 6, 1994 in Sheboygan , Wisconsin ) is an American basketball player .
NBA career
Dekker was selected 18th in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets . In his debut season he came in three games for short appearances for the team; he was on the field for six minutes. Dekker struggled with back problems in his year as a rookie , which is why he was out for three months. After he recovered, Dekker played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the Farm League D-League .
In his second year in the NBA Dekker played in the rotation of the Rockets and came in the 2016/17 season on 77 appearances with an average of 18.4 minutes of playing time in the regular season, in which he averaged 6.5 points per game. Dekker reached the NBA playoffs with the Rockets . In the conference semifinals, they ultimately lost to San Antonio 2: 4.
In the summer of 2017 he was transferred from the Rockets to the Los Angeles Clippers with three other players as part of a transfer for Chris Paul . At the Clippers, Dekker played an average of 12.1 minutes in 73 games and achieved an average of 4.2 points.
In the summer of 2018, Dekker was transferred again and ended up in the squad of the Cleveland Cavaliers . Decker started the 2018/19 season relatively well , but injured himself after just 9 games. He should not play any more games for the Cavaliers because he was transferred to the Washington Wizards a few weeks later in a trade between three teams . Dekker played 38 games for the Wizards and scored an average of 6.1 points per game.
After the season, Dekker's contract ran out and he did not receive a new contract in the NBA, then Dekker joined the Russian basketball club Lokomotive Kuban Krasnodar , which play their games in the VTB United League .
