Sam Leavitt

Sam Leavitt (born February 6, 1904 in New York , † March 21, 1984 in Los Angeles ) was an American cameraman .

Life

Sam Leavitt came to film as an apprentice at Paramount studios and from the mid-30s was camera assistant and member of the camera crew, for example with George Sidney . From the mid-1950s he was regularly employed as chief cameraman. Although he proved his skills in complex productions such as B. "Carmen Jones", the Oscar for the best camera received Leavitt for a comparatively sober image composition in Escape in Chains . He was also nominated for Exodus and Anatomy of a Murder .
