George Sidney

George Sidney (born October 4, 1916 in Long Island , † May 5, 2002 in Las Vegas ) was an American director and film producer . He was President of the Directors Guild of America from 1951 to 1959 and from 1961 to 1967 .

He came from a family of actors. His uncle George Sidney and his three wives Lillian Burns , Jane Adler and Corinne Cole were also actors.

His most famous works include Vacation in Hollywood (1945, with Frank Sinatra ), The Three Musketeers (1948, with Gene Kelly ) and Great Nights in Las Vegas (1964, with Elvis Presley ). In 1958 he received the Golden Globe in the category Best World Entertainment Through Musical Films .

Sidney died of cancer .
