Sam Wide , full name Samuel Karl Anders Wide, (born October 17, 1861 in Stora Tuna , † February 13, 1918 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish classical philologist and archaeologist as well as religious historian.

Sam Wide studied at Uppsala University , where he received his doctorate in 1888. From 1893 to 1895 he made extensive trips to Italy and Greece, where he undertook excavations in the Poseidon shrine of Kalaureia and in Aphidnai in Attica . In 1895 he became professor of classical philology at Lund University , and in 1899 at Uppsala University. In 1909 he became the first professor of Classical Archeology and Ancient History at Uppsala University.

His main area of ​​research was the history of Greek religion, in particular the history of cults in their local development.
