Samad Abdullayev ( Azerbaijani Səməd Həmid oğlu Abdullayev * 1920 in the village Qolqəti, Province Ağdaş , Azerbaijan SSR ; † 5. November 1943 in the village of Eltigen (now Geroewskoe), Kerch , Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) was a Red Army soldier of Azerbaijani descent , Star China of the Medical Service in the German-Soviet War and posthumously Hero of the Soviet Union (1943).

Career

After graduating from the Ağdaş Pedagogical College in 1937, Abdullayev worked as a teacher in the village of Küsnət in the Oğuz Province . In 1938 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and in 1938 graduated from the sanitary instructor school in Tbilisi .

When the Wehrmacht invaded the Soviet Union, Abdullayev went to war. He first took part in the North Caucasian operation , then was transferred to the Crimean peninsula . In one of the skirmishes he was wounded and taken to a hospital. After the treatment, he returned to the front.

In the summer of 1943, Abdullayev, now a sergeant and medical officer in the 1339 Rifle Regiment of the 318th Rifle Division , was again involved in heavy fighting. At the beginning of June he killed up to 20 Wehrmacht soldiers while helping the wounded. For this he was awarded the "Bravery Medal" in the same month .

During the Kerch-Eltigen operation , the 18th Army and Abdullayev's unit landed near the village of Eltigen on the Kerch peninsula in early November 1943 . Under heavy artillery fire, he provided medical aid to the wounded Soviet soldiers, carried them from the battlefield and intervened in the fighting himself. In the course of the fighting, Abdullayev fell on November 5, 1943.

By decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1943, Samad Abdullayev was posthumously awarded the " Order of Lenin ", " Order of the Red Star " and "Hero of the Soviet Union " for "exemplary performance of combat duties and personal heroism in the fight against German invaders" " honored.
